Chloe Park

This piece is inspired by my time in Italy.

While there, I visited a friend who grew up on the island of Sicily. We climbed the still active volcano, the Etna, on the night of a Full Moon as the magma was supposed to be flowing.

As one of the most physically exhausting experiences I’ve ever had… trekking on volcanic ash rock at an 85 degree angle that makes your feet sink with each step… reaching the top was exhilarating. The raw textures of earth at that primordial level of creation as magma creates life and shape while moving towards sea level inspired this piece in its texture and form.
